Bulletin #1330

Up ]

A 1968 track bulletin covers the movement of the business car ROAMER over the railroad on May 9-10, 1968.

Bulletin No. 1330:

ROAMER (1972)
Kevin Johnson, former owner of the business car, had this to say about discovering the bulletin in the ROAMER:
When cleaning the upper berth of the porter's room this weekend [April 2007], I found the enclosed which had fallen behind the lower mattress.  This may have been the last time the ROAMER. went out.  I thought you would enjoy a copy.

The ROAMER was sold late 1971 and moved from Green Bay in 1972, so this was certainly one of the last movements of the business car over the railroad.

The train took just over 5 hours to travel the 212 miles from Green Bay to East Winona -- an average speed of 40 miles per hour.

Chief Train Dispatcher B.D. Curran was alerting all employees on the line that the Roamer was coming, so that they could arrange their work to be out of the way. This is not the same as a train order giving the train a specific right to travel over the railroad, but it was simply letting everybody know that something was happening and don't delay it.

The track bulletin is reproduced below in text format to help in searching the text.  To see the original document, click here
