Trading Cards

Up ]

Cards printed by All Aboard Collector Cards feature RS2 #303,RS3 #305 and C424 #319.

Well, this certainly is one of the more unique Green Bay Route items ever produced... trading cards!  These 3.5" x 2.5" cards were produced in 1991 by All Aboard Collector Cards.  The two shown below were cards #35, #36 and #37 in series #1.

Images in the set of cards tend to run heavy in the Midwest and Northeast; besides the Green Bay & Western, some of the railroads included are Erie Lackawanna, New York Central, Chesapeake & Ohio, Milwaukee Road, Detroit Toledo & Ironton, Ann Arbor, Chicago & North Western, Grand Trunk, and the Soo Line. There were 46 cars in the set.

I have to admit, as a kid growing up in Wisconsin in the 1960's, I collected lots of football cards, but never locomotive cards!  ("Hey Johnnie, I'll trade you my Bart Starr rookie card for your RS3 in red and gray!")

Green Bay and Western Alco RS2 No. 303 in the simplified red paint scheme is shown working the yard at Green Bay, Wisconsin.  The GB&W still maintains one of the only all-Alco powered railroads in the nation. (May 1971)

Green Bay routes' RS3 No. 305 is busy working Norwood Yard at Green Bay, Wisconsin.  The locomotive is shown in the beautiful red and gray paint scheme (August 1964).
