Illinois Railway Museum Union, Ill. |
Built in 1959 as Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe #9841 (later #841), it was one of six sold to the Lake Superior & Ishpeming (LS&I #2402) in 1975. All six engines were purchased by the GB&W in November 1989, mainly as a parts supply. Donated to the Illinois Railway Museum in 1996. It carries an interesting 'hybrid' LS&I/GB&W paint scheme. An interesting anecdote: while en route to the IRM, this engine wound up getting on a westbound Union Pacific manifest freight out of Chicago and was discovered in Nebraska! |
