Marv Preussler created these fantastic GBW & AHW 'paint-out' boxcars from Athearn models.

Marv's Models and Their Prototypes:

GBW #8077 (1989.03.22)

AHW #359 (1981.02.03)

In the early 1980s the Green Bay & Western and Ahnapee & Western added three hundred ex-Providence & Worcester RR boxcars to their freight car fleet.  These cars were 5347 cu.ft. cars built by FMC Corp. in the late 1970s.  Athearn made this freight car as a ready-to-roll HO scale 50' FMC 5347 Boxcar (#ATH92521) lettered for the P&W.

Marv Preussler created these GBW/AHW models boxcars from Athearn's P&W freight car.  GBW #8077 has new reporting marks with no other paint outs. AHW #359 has the logos painted out.  Both match prototype photos.  The models have metal wheels, Kadee couplers, individual grab irons, etched metal walkways on the ends of the cars, and have been weathered.

The cars are now busy at work on his GBW Kewaunee Division layout.
